SECOR Process
The Secor Process is a system used by businesses to ensure that their employees are fully briefed on all the hazards they may come across. The process begins with an assessment of the specific risks faced by each employee and then proceeds to provide them with the necessary training and resources to avoid those risks. By doing this, we’re ensuring that our employees are able to stay safe and healthy while they’re on the job.
Steps to Take
To take advantage of the Secor Process, you first need to assess the specific risks faced by your employees. This can be done through a risk assessment questionnaire or by talking to each employee individually. Once you have a clear understanding of each individual’s risk profile, you can begin providing them with the necessary training and resources to avoid those risks.
The Secor Process is an effective way to ensure that your employees are safe and healthy while on the job.

Secor is an acronym for the Secor Small Employer Certificate of Recognition. The SECOR® is a national program that recognizes and rewards employers who have successfully implemented health and safety programs. The rewards are a substantial discount on your WCB Premiums.
What is Secor certification?
This is the process of applying to a certifying partner, meeting all the criteria, and finally passing your certification audit with at least 80% overall and no less than 50% in each section of the audit.
How many employees is a Secor?
The maximum number of workers rotates from 10 in some provinces to 20 in other provinces. 20 is the maximum anywhere in Canada.
What is a Secor safety Audit?
This is a Protocol that asks questions that you answer and show proof through the documentation you gather. They want samples, not your whole program. You would send in one item per quarter to show you are compliant. This audit is completed by the individual who has the training course for your company. Audits are due each year on the anniversary that you got certified. For example, if your secor has an expiry date of November 29, 2022 you would submit the audit each year before this date.
